Counter Strike Configuration

Hello everyone!
I started this blog in hopes of helping complete newbies/not-noob-but-still-new-players in counter strike 1.6.  I'm no pro, I just want to share what I have learned and share the things I'm still learning--Hey even the pros don't know everything.
For those of you who happened to stumble upon this amazingly wonderful blog and have no clue as to what counter strike 1.6 is, let me explain. CS(Counter strike) is a popular first person shooter(well, maybe not as popular as it was in '99 and early 2000 but still pretty popular) and it is very unique and not like any other fps I have played.
The basic concept is you have two sides--Terrorist and Counter Terrorist-- and they try to eliminate each other. You play in rounds and you have limited time to finish them. The main objective of the terrorists is to plant the bomb in one of the two bombsites in each map, and the counter terrorists objective is to prevent the terrorists from planting the bomb. If the terrorists do happen to manage to plant the bomb then the counter terrorists must defuse it before it explodes. If the terrorists don't plant the bomb before the clock runs out then the counter terrorists automatically win the round.
Anyways, enough of the intro. Lets get started. So the first thing I, or any other decent player would recommend is that you get your configuration sorted. That means your rates, inbound packets, outbound packets, and Frames Per Second etc.. etc.. So in order to do most of these things is you need to open up your console. Don't know what your console is? Its this key right here: "~" under the "Esc" button. So, once you have your console open enter the following commands EXACTLY and one at a time:

fps_max 101

cl_updaterate 101

cl_cmdrate 106

ex_interp 0.01

zoom_sensitivity_ratio 0.98 or whatever you fell comfortable with.

rate 20000

hud_centerid 1( When you put your crosshairs over the enemy there name comes up in the center of your screen, thus allowing you to react quicker)

hud_fastswitch 1(Allows you to press the number keys and switch to your weapon without having to click the mouse first)

That's all the commands I can think of right now, but I will add more if I remember them later!:)
Now lets talk about mouse sensitivity. Some people say you should use a high mouse sensitivity, some say you should use a very low mouse sensitivity. What do I think? It's all personal preference. Fiddle around with your mouse sensitivity in the options menu and see which one you like. Right now, for me its 2.45 For some people it might be 8.8, 8.1, 1.2 etc etc.
And  then there's mouse acceleration. Very bad. Big no no. Mouse acceleration makes it harder to aim, and blah blah blah, I'm not going to go into detail. Just remember that mouse acceleration is bad. "But," your probable asking. "One who knows all, how do I get rid of mouse acceleration!?"
Easy.
Now, if your playing counter strike through steam--Which is the only Legal way that I know to play counter strike--then you click on the steam icon on your desktop, and go to your game library, then right click on Counter Strike 1.6 and click "properties" then, go to launch options and type in the following commands--and once again, EXACTLY:

-noforcemparms -noforcemaccel -noforcemspd

And that should do it!:)
Now, we are almost finished with config! the last thing/things you should do is click on options(in-game)
and click on "video" then un-check the following:

wait for vertical sync
Enable HD models if available
and allow custom add-on content.

Then click on "Mouse" and un-check:

reverse mouse
joystick look
mouse filter
joystick
auto aim
and raw mouse input.

Make sure you have "mouse look" ENABLED. Then click on "Advanced" in the options menu and fiddle around with weapon alignment, menu type, and radar to see what your comfortable with. Now, just one more thing--crosshair size, and color.
Once again, personal preference. some people like default size, small, medium, or large. Right now I use large. And be sure to turn off crosshair translucency. And last but certainly not least--cross hair color. I see a lot of people using Green, or Red, but I use Blue. Why do I use Blue? Because its the best color in the whole dang world. And once you have EVERYTHING you want in your config, you go into console again and type:

writecfg Illusion ( You can name it whatever you want.)

And to use the config when you go back into game you just type:
exec Illusion.cfg

Well that's all folks! Hope this helps!  Have fun and take care!
